SUMMER 2019 NEWSLETTER
Irish Community Care Manchester
is also looking for new Trustees to join the Board of Trustees
There is an exciting opportunity to join Irish Community Care Manchester, our small but active charity making a real difference in the lives of many people in the Greater Manchester in particular Irish emigrants and their descendants.
Irish Community Care Manchester (ICCM) has been supporting people who are Irish, of Irish descent or Irish Travellers since its foundation in the early 1980’s. It is a busy charity delivering support through advice, information and outreach and facilitating a range of events and activities for the well-being of the older members of the Irish community. The charity is governed by a Board of Trustees and has a small staff team.
The charity is seeking new trustees that can help and support the organisation to achieve its charitable goals and build sustainability for the future. The new trustees will bring a range of skills and experience and kNowledge. In particular we would welcome applications from people with financial or accounting experience.
The objects of the charity are to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Manchester and its surrounding areas, and in particular but not exclusively persons of Irish descent, regardless of sex, political, religious or other opinions, by associating with local authorities, voluntary organizations and inhabitants to:
a) provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and other leisure time occupations with the object of improving the conditions of life of the inhabitants;
b) preserve and protect good health by the provision and dissemination of health care advice and information;
c) relieve elderly people who are in financial need, by providing items, services and facilities to relieve the needs of such persons.
• To attend Board meetings, which are held around 10 times a year, and generally last for 2 hours
• To attend other important meetings when the necessity arises;
• To answer emails from relevant staff or other trustees, to review documents and provide input, to stay in touch and on top of ongoing issues;
• To attend public or donor’s events organised by the charity;
• To attend training workshops and conferences for trustees.
