EVENTS & GROUPS
IMEACHTAÍ AGUS GRÚPAÍ

We run a year-round programme of activities that celebrate Irish identity, culture & heritage, while supporting wellbeing, and bringing people together. Our groups are open, friendly, and there's something for everyone. Regular groups include lunch clubs for older people, Irish history club, book club, Caíliní women's group, young men's group, allotment group, Céilí-cise classes, and Bród our LGBTQ+ group.

More than 2,000 people came along to our cultural events over the year, celebrating culture and community together.

We run three weekly social lunch groups for older people across Greater Manchester, based in Levenshulme, Fallowfield, and Cheetham Hill.

Each week, more than 200 older people come together to enjoy social activities, conversation, dancing, a freshly prepared meal, and a cup of tea in a warm and welcoming environment.

Our lunch groups provide a vital lifeline for many older members of the community, helping to reduce isolation and loneliness while promoting wellbeing, friendship, and community connection. They also offer an important opportunity for people to celebrate and maintain their Irish culture, heritage, and identity. Our lunch groups are facilitated by our dedicated and hardworking volunteers

The groups are open to anyone aged 55 and over, as well as their carers.

For more information about our lunch groups, if you would be interested I attending or volunteering, please see the details in our groups section below or contact us at headoffice@irishcommunitycare.com or give us a call on 0161 205 9105

"I take my mum to the weekly lunch group, and she's met a couple of people from her village, and they know many of the same people and it's been lovely to hear their stories.’

“I come to the lunch groups to meet people and get to know them. I love the banter and having a laugh together and trying to put the world to rights. I also like to dance.”

“The support is good. Once you go into the lunch groups the staff and volunteers are there to help you – all smiling faces. There is lovely music to dance to with my friends.”

“Since losing my wife a few years ago I felt lost and lonely. My daughter told me about this club, and it has been good to meet other people who are like me. We help each other – I would be very unhappy without this group.”
